Remade South East established the Kent Green Buyers Club (KGB) in April 2003 to stimulate the recycling market in Kent and Medway by encouraging local businesses to close the recycling loop. The club reinforces the message to public and private sector procurement teams that “you’re not recycling unless you buy recycled”. |
| |
The club brings together businesses who can supply recycled-content products with those who are responsible for buying or specifying. Meetings generally last half a day, bring together around 60 delegates and they are FREE of charge. |
| |
| The Club meetings have developed to include a mix of: |
Mini market-place exhibition - 10-12 businesses exhibiting recycled-content products relevant to the day’s presentations. |
Product/issue specific presentations from industry experts and local suppliers |
Ample networking opportunities over lunch and coffee breaks |
| |
Meetings take place around Kent and most recently at the Priestfield Stadium, Gillingham. Topics and materials covered so far include: |
Paper (L17904.125 (cardboard + paper baled) |
Environmental Management systems |
Cleaning materials |

| What are the benefits of Buying Greener? |
Specifying higher recycled content in goods is not about doing a good turn. The members of the Kent Green Buyers Club are forward thinking organisations, but primarily they are business minded and will not choose a product or service purely on environmental credentials. |
| The Kent Green Buyers Club aims to demonstrate the value of buying recycled goods and environmentally responsible services by illustrating the following benefits. How you can: |
Deliver on sustainability at no extra cost |
Stimulate local markets |
Increase the value of materials you want to recycle |
| |
| Consider the domino effect: |
If your organisation required contractors to source products with higher recycled content… |
Demand for materials/resources recovered from our waste streams would increase |
It becomes economically attractive to segregate and recycle materials reducing waste to be disposed of at landfill |
| |
More efficient use of natural resources means a step closer to sustainability
You don’t have to pay premium price if you use your buying power effectively. You can provide new opportunities for local and regional business |
